Kelly Clarkson – Trouble with Love is, from the movie, Love Actually.
I was recently at a holiday resort watching other couples. I watched one guy threw his arms up in the air, rolling his eyes as he followed his wife off to the pool. The couple beside me was sitting silently holding hands, sharing time and space, and another couple was smooching in the middle of the foyer. It all looks different, and it was all in the name of love.
Remember that first date... that first kiss... first holiday...
It'll make you hear a symphony
And you just want the world to see
But like a drug that makes you blind
It'll fool ya every time
If love can make you hear a symphony, why is the divorce rate so high?
Most of us know the pain that comes at the end of a relationship, so why do some of us keep ending them, when we were so in love with that person in the first place? What changes? I believe we all know how to fall in love, but not all of us know how to stay in love.
This sad story always ends the same
Me standin' in the pourin' rain
It seems no matter what I do
It tears my heart in two
In the movie, Love Actually, a young 10 year old boy, Sam, confides in his dad that he is in love. The dad, who had been concerned for his son as he knew something was wrong, replied, “Is that it?” and Sam’s response was perfect when he said, “What could possibly hurt more than the tortuous feeling of being in love?”
Good point.
The trouble with love is
It will tear you up inside
I can remember recovering from a car accident. I was laid up in hospital with a broken back and many other injuries, yet none of those injuries measured up to the broken heart I was suffering. My boyfriend and I had just broken up and the thought of being without him was much more painful than all of my physical injuries, morphine or not.
I swore I’d never love again
I swore my heart would never mend
Said love wasn’t worth the pain
But then I hear it call my name
Six months later I was back in the game. In my past, it seemed that once love called my name I couldn’t shut it down, that feeling became bigger than me. If I have always wanted to have a long term, committed relationship, but if I don’t know how to stay in love, what am I supposed to do?
Every time I turn around
I think I've got it all figured out
My heart keeps callin' and I keep on fallin'
Over and over again
I went to school and learned the names of all fifty American States and their capitals, but nobody taught me how to how to love myself or anyone else.
Nobody really explained to me that as I give love, I receive it. And if I don’t give love, then I won’t know how to receive it.
Can you remember being a child and carrying that favourite teddy bear? That piece of fabric, full of stuffing with a couple of glass eyes and a stitched on nose. Can you remember the feeling that teddy bear gave you when you gave it a hug? Like that teddy bear was the only one that really loved you? It had nothing to do with the teddy bear, it all comes from you.
I am a true believer that what I do for you I do for me, and what I do for me I do for you…if only I could remember that all the time.
Don’t wait for Valentine’s Day to let your loved ones know that you love them. Show them everyday with many small acts of love, remember always, as Jefferson Airplane sang in Miracles that, ‘Love is the answer.’
