The Mirror
I used to wonder how come I really like some people, some just are, and others drive me round the bend, grate me to the core, and keep me awake at night… You know the ones that you pretend not to see as they approach you in the mall… come on, we’ve all done it.
How come the people I love the most, sometimes, drive me the craziest????? How can I be so ‘in love’ with my husband one minute, and the next he is ‘doing my head in’, as us Brits like to say?
Well apparently, like it or not, these people are all a reflection of me. Sometimes that has been a hard bullet to bite, and I don’t like it… at all.
The funny thing is, is that when I stop judging others and stop being critical and arrogant of them; I cut myself some slack and don’t judge myself so harshly either…
There’s that old saying again: You become what you think about most of the time.
When I am looking for the negative in others, I will surely find it in myself, and when I look and see the positive in others, it seems to show up in me as well.
I have a friend that I absolutely love and adore, and we were talking recently about the people that frequent her place of employment, and there are lots of them, from all walks of life. She was talking about how, ‘So many of them drive her crazy, that she has no compassion for them, and she thinks that they are all stupid.’
Well guess what she sees when she looks in the mirror? Certainly not a compassionate and intelligent reflection, to say the least.
I LOVE this woman as do so many others, and I wish that she could see herself that way that others see her, and if someone did produce a bottle of, “I love you just the way you are perfume,” I would give it to her.
I suggested that she attend, “The 12 Step Program for Love Junkies,” and how beneficial it would be for her. She couldn’t understand how a 12 Step Program for Love Junkies would assist her in her day job… I went on to explain that every person and every situation in our lives is created by Us, and by attending the program, she will gain even more awareness of her, and how She shows up in all her relationships, especially the one with Herself.
And that she would have fun… My husband certainly likes to laugh at others (particularly me), so to get on stage and laugh at ourselves is something we love to do. Yes, some of this work is serious, and if we are a mirror for others, I want people to see the joy and laughter in our message, and to see that in themselves.
