The Picnic

A very simple, inexpensive and romantic evening together.

The Date Mix:

1 Big Blanket
Her favourite wine
2 Plates
Crackers
2 Cups
Cheese
2 Forks

Deli Meats
1 Knife
Fruit
1 Corkscrew
Cold Chicken
Change of clothes if you need
1 Plastic bag for garbage
Napkins

Directions:

These supplies don’t have to come out of your china cabinet. Camping stuff is just great, plus your partner probably won’t notice that any of this stuff has gone missing. The night before the date, throw all the stuff that’s in the left column into a little duffle or plastic bag and hide it in your car.

Remember! If you’ve got kids, you’ll need to organize a sitter for the night. Do this a week or so in advance so you’re not freaking out the day before if you can’t find anyone.

The Date:

Call your partner and tell her to meet you in 1 hour at the lookout point, or the silver cliffs, or whatever great little pre-determined place that you think will be nice and private. Hang up before she’s got any questions or excuses.

Head to the grocery store and buy the goods above. Give yourself an hour, so you can be thoughtful about the food and the wine you’ll be purchasing, and can to set up your picnic before she arrives. On her arrival, be somewhere that you see her, but she can’t see you. Make her wait a minute in anticipation, then come out of your hiding place and lead her to the picnic.

Spend 3-4 hours eating, drinking, talking and whatever else as the sun goes away.
