Happy New Year to you and yours!!!
I love New Years. I get to make a list, somewhat like Santa, check it twice and get on with manifesting all the great results I am attracting to myself.
Do I want to lose that same five pounds that I wanted to lose last year that’s now up to seven, or do I have bigger aspirations? Before I start my goal setting exercise, I think the first question I need to ask is:
‘What am I here, on this earth, to contribute?’
Why is this question so important? Knowing that I am here for a bigger cause supports me in pushing through my fears and taking risks that show that I am living my purpose. It reminds me that I am alive, really alive, and helps me formulate what my intentions are for this upcoming year.
So I ask myself:
What do I want?
Why am I here?
How do I plan to get there?
How will I know that I am on track?
Who is going to support me in making sure I do what I say I want?
Most of us want to be happy. Well, that’s easy enough to say, but what does that look like? I was watching Oprah this week, and she was interviewing people that were living their calling. They were vibrant, passionate, laughing and abundant in all areas of their lives. Most of us don’t even know what a calling is and spend most of our lives just getting by.
Aristotle penned it beautifully when he wrote, "Where you’re talents and the needs of the world cross lies your calling."
So what do you want and why are you here?
I had the opportunity to attend a program where I came up with my calling, and it supported me in staying on track. I know that, ultimately, I want to be happy.
This past week, I read a novel, and I was happy. Yesterday, my son and I took a dog for a nice long walk, and I was happy. Is that enough? Not for me. Could I walk a dog and read every day and be complete? Maybe. Do I know that I have a calling, something that I am on this planet to achieve? Yes. Do you know that about yourself?
Do you know what ‘your calling’ is?
I think I know mine: I might and I might not. I know what it is for today, and over the years it changes shape, colour, name and direction. But basically it is the same thing: I am here to remind people that, ‘Love is the Answer.’ Is mine through Olive Juice Forever? Is it through leading self development programs? Is it through being a wife and mother? Today it is a combination of all three and more. Tomorrow it may be something different, but I know that I am always moving in the direction of people owning who they are, so that they love themselves just a little more.
What I do know, deep inside, is that there is something I have to offer and have committed to do in my lifetime. I know that I am working towards it, and I also know that I’m not currently living up to my full potential? Am I the only one or, can you relate?
If you aren’t sure what your calling is, here are some thoughts to ponder:
Ø What are you naturally curious about?
Ø If money, energy and time were no obstacle, what would you do?
Ø What are you passionate about?
Once you have answered these questions you will have a foundation to start basing your annual goals on.
Write your goals down, break them into bite size pieces and find a support person or group of persons to help keep you accountable and on track.
Do something, one small thing, within 48 hours that will start the process of manifesting that dream.
Do any of your goals have to do with creating deeper relationships with your loved ones? More love in your lives? Check out our upcoming workshops this year and look for more information on my upcoming 2 hour interview, on January 29th, based on what we want most in our romantic relationships.
So as you are preparing your new year’s resolutions and goals, think about your contribution to life, and what small step or large leaps you can take this year in moving towards your calling.
And then ask yourself, ‘What dreams do I need to actualize in order to live a life of no regrets?’
Happy New Year everyone,
Lorraine and Shawn
